Job Summary:
RHT Africa is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager specializing in sustainable transport to lead and oversee our transportation projects across Africa. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of sustainable mobility solutions, and a passion for transforming urban transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Oversee all phases of project life cycles from initiation to closure, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Implement project management methodologies and best practices to optimize efficiency.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional project teams comprising engineers, planners, analysts, and support staff.
- Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular reviews to ensure team accountability and productivity.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Stakeholder Management
- Establish strong relationships with clients, government agencies, partners, and community stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders, addressing concerns and providing updates.
- Represent RHT Africa at meetings, conferences, and public forums.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimates, resource allocation, and financial reporting.
- Monitor expenditures and implement cost-control measures to ensure financial efficiency.
- Identify and secure necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
Risk Management
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and adjust project plans in response to changing circumstances or challenges.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
Quality Assurance
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards of project deliverables.
- Conduct regular project evaluations and audits to assess performance and outcomes.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare detailed project reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, decisions, and changes.
Community Engagement
- Lead community outreach initiatives to engage local populations in project development.
- Incorporate community feedback into project planning to ensure alignment with local needs.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Project Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of project management experience in transportation, infrastructure, or urban development sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex projects.
- Experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of sustainable transport principles and practices.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost management.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in other African languages is an asset.
- Passionate about sustainability and improving urban mobility in Africa.
